Australia will take its tariff complaints straight to Trump. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Sunday he would seek to raise the issue after Washington imposed new duties on 60 trading partners including Australia, alleging they had failed to curb trade in goods made with forced labour. The US Trade Representative acted under Section 301, setting rates at 10 percent for partners that have committed to adopting and enforcing import bans and 12.5 percent for those that have not, covering roughly 99.4 percent of American imports.
Kuwait formally denied the report that it sent jets to attack Iran. Ambassador to the US Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah wrote to the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board calling the story utterly and completely baseless, according to the official Kuwait News Agency. She said Kuwait has not taken part in any military operations against Iran and has not allowed its territory, airspace or territorial waters to be used to launch offensive operations.
