Japan to Reduce Restrictions on Coal Power Plants

(Prime Minister) The Prime Minister of Japan has said on social media that the country would be reducing restrictions on coal-fired power plants for the fiscal year 2026 to conserve on liquid natural gas. She stated that, currently, there are no disruptions to the stable supply of electricity for Japan. 6% of LNG supplies to Japan come through the Strait of Hormuz, but the country is working to increase alternative procurement.
