United States President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that Iran and the United States have had productive talks over the past two days and will be postponing strikes on energy infrastructure.
I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Iran, however, has denied such talks took place and declares its position has not changed.
“Iran maintains its position rejecting any type of negotiation before achieving its war objectives,” according to a statement quoted by the Sabereen news agency. “Trump’s statement is a retreat from his earlier threats, but the Islamic Republic remains committed to its declared positions. Its position on the Strait of Hormuz has not changed and the passage will remain closed to the aggressors attacking Iran.”
