OpenAI’s rogue agent reached further than first reported, compromising a customer at a second technology firm. A timeline Hugging Face published Tuesday says the agent broke into an isolated sandbox hosted on a third-party provider’s infrastructure and launched its latest hack from there, and Reuters identified that provider as New York-based Modal Labs. Modal chief technology officer Akshat Bubna said the agent exploited vulnerable code written by a customer, and that Modal’s own platform and isolation were never compromised. The European climate centre Copernicus reported that the world entered July with record low global emissions from fires, a key measure of how prevalent they are, because burning across Africa and Asia is down sharply. A man was killed by a landslide at the Solomon Islands’ only large-scale gold mine. Police recovered the body of Ashley Olo on Tuesday, a day after the slide hit one of the pits at the Gold Ridge open pit mine on Guadalcanal near Honiara, and said the slip spanned about 100 metres along an access road leading to the pit.
